International Women’s Media Foundation (http://www.iwmf.org/)

 

IWMF’s mission is to move women into key positions in the news media. IWMF’s programs operate in the United States, Africa, Latin America and Eastern Europe. The website also provides links to resources such as publications, a newsletter and statistics.

This is the women’s section of the African portal site, Afrol.com. This section provides news coverage of women in Africa and background information such as “women and gender profiles” for each African country.

allAfrica.com is among the Internet’s largest content sites posting over 800 news stories daily, in English and French, on African news and information. The “Women and Gender” link of allAfrica.com is a compilation of news stories on women and gender in Africa.

           

Arab Women Connect (AWC) (http://www.arabwomenconnect.org/)

 

The UNIFEM Arab States Regional Office (ASRO) launched AWC as part of the WID FI project. The AWC Arabic/English website contains studies, reports and statistics on Arab women collected from WID FI and PBP II counterparts and women’s organizations in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, Yemen, UAE and Qatar.

The Gender Section of the Commonwealth Secretariat focused on implementing the Commonwealth Plan of Action on Gender and Development (1995-2000) for the past 10 years. In 2004 a new Plan of Action for Gender Equality (2005-2015) will direct the Commonwealth action for the next decade. The Gender Section of the Commonwealth Secretariat’s website includes information on its core activities, publications, reports, papers and newsletters.

AWID (Association for Women’s Rights in Development) is an international membership organization connecting, informing and mobilizing people and organizations committed to achieving gender equality, sustainable development and women’s human rights.

 

European and North American Womenaction (ENAWA) ( http://www.enawa.org/)

 

ENAWA is a network of media, ICT, information and advocacy organizations strengthening and integrating a feminist analysis in the information and media landscape in relation to social movement and the women’s movement regionally and internationally. The World Bank: Gender and Development page

This is an international network of gender advocates actively working to promote equitable social and sustainable trade. The network utilizes research, advocacy and economic literacy to address the specific trade issues of the seven regions: Africa, Asian, Caribbean, Europe, Latin America, North America and the Pacific. IDEA is an intergovernmental organization, with member states across all continents, that seeks to support sustainable democracy in both new and established democracies. The link to “Gender and Political Participation” provides information to resources on women in governance structures.

IWDC seeks to strengthen women’s global leadership through training, education, networking and research, with a focus on increasing the participation of women in politics, policy and decision-making within their own government.
